I love my Crock Pot, you can make so many different things in it!

2 full loaves of french or italian bread.

We love left overs, so start out with 8 lbs of Top Sirloin Steak or Roast and season it accordingly (season salt, pepper *I even put a chopped bunch of cilantro and fresh basil makes a huge difference*)

2 large jars of giardiniera (We use mild because a lot of people in my house can't handle the heat) WIMPS! Use whatever heat temp you'd like or handle. (Do NOT use the oil, make sure you drain the oil or else your meat will be oily and that's gross lol)

4 bushels of cut up portabello mushrooms (Optional if you don't like mushrooms)

Cut up meat, toss it in the crock on low for 8 hours.
At hour 4 put in mushrooms.
At hour 6 put in giardiniera.

Wallah, you have italian beef sandwiches. :D

Killer! I also agree, if you can't handle full strength giardiniera get out of the kitchen. We use to have a hot dog shop here in Houston called Hot Dogs by Harlen. The owners were from Chicago and all of their menu was authentic Chicago cuisine. I tried everything on that menu at leatt once. I never could get over some of the things that they did, tomatoes on a dog, the flourescent green relish, gerkins and last but not least the wall size portrait of Wrigley Field. Laughing

top sirloin around here when it's on sale is 2.99/lb. that's when I usually buy it. Yeah it's a more expensive cut, but worth it!

butt steak or chuck steak can work too, I'm sure Ozz.
Trust me, this is not a meal we eat daily cuz we're on a tight budget as well.
